It’s important that kids feel comfortable and don’t get nervous, so here’s how we ensure that.

 

1. For parents to run through the questions informally with kids before we shoot so they get an idea what they will be asked and perhaps form some possible answers. It’s also important that they know that parents will be asking them the questions when we shoot. We’ve suggested some possible answers in case they’re stuck on anything.

2. For parents to ask the questions on the day, starting with the question number then the question. Parents won’t be in shot, but the kids will be looking at them and they respond an awful lot better to people they trust. If you’ve already gone through the questions previously, they should be comfortable. Once you’ve asked a question, make sure you give it 2-3 seconds before they answer. We’ll be overdubbing the questions in post-production.
